Picture shows the new stairs railings and landscaping around the hillside slides and climbing wall at Century Park

This week's GreerView includes info on an opening, a closure, and an outdoor concert to celebrate the city's sesquicentennial.

Park Fully Open

The improvement project at Century Park is now complete, which means some popular attractions at Benson Automotive Kids Planet are open for business -- or play in this case!

Parts of the lower section of Century Park have been closed while the team worked on drainage improvements to help direct the flow of water around the hillside slide area during heavy rain. Crews installed new stairs, railings, sidewalks, and strategic landscaping to help prevent erosion and wash out.

The hillside slides, climbing wall, and 100-foot zipline are now fully open at Kids Planet.

Parking Garage Elevator Closed

The elevator inside the Jason Street public parking garage is temporarily closed. A contractor is working to determine the cause of the problem and get the elevator back up and running. In the meantime, check out Discover Greer to find other free downtown parking locations and learn more about the city's free shuttle service if you prefer to park and ride.

Greer150 Mural Milestone

Artist Adam Schrimmer from Blank Canvas Mural Company has signed his company's name to the Greer150 public art piece on the side of the old Davenport building at Trade and Randall Streets downtown. It's not the final step of the project, but it's a big milestone.
